All State Auditions 2026

All State Audition Information 2026

• Date: January 31st, 2026

• Location: Hoover High School

• Time: All of the students will be assigned an audition time in January.. The auditions usually start as early as 9:00 AM. 

• Cost: $15- this will be available on my school fees in November.

• What happens at the audition?

  • The students complete a blind audition where the judges cannot see them.

  • They will perform their scales (they must get 5 scales plus the corresponding arpeggio correct to pass the scale room). 

  • After they perform their scales they will perform the two prepared pieces and complete sightreading. 

  • Based on the audition they can make all-district honor band or both all-district and all-state honor band.

All State Help Resources

We ❗HIGHLY❗ recommend private lessons for any student trying out for all state. You can find a complete list of teachers teaching private lessons at simmonsband.com under the private lessons tab. Most students that take private lessons end up making all district or all state band.

We encourage students to have 3-4 30 minute practice sessions per week on the all state music broken down like we showed in the prep guide. 😃

 

All State Help Session Days​

Every Wednesday and Friday morning, we will have morning band from 8:00 AM to 8:20 AM. This will be reserved for students to get extra All-State help. Student's can also request passes to practice during BUC time, lunch plus, or sometimes during PE.
